Democrats are furious with the news that former President Donald Trump may be going to the Capitol as the wrangling about who is going to become the next Speaker of the House has continued.

It was originally thought by some that the former president would visit the Capitol to make a case for himself to be the next Speaker, but that speculation ended on Friday when he endorsed Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan.

“Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District,” he said on his Truth Social site. “He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”

“Just had a great conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race. He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party,” Republican Texas Rep. Troy Nehls said on Thursday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“After him thinking about it and this and that … he said he really is in favor of getting behind Jim Jordan,” he said. “He believes Jim Jordan is right for the job.”

The Texas representative is among those who suggested that the former president be the new Speaker and said he would nominate him, prior to the endorsement of Rep. Jordan.

Hours after former Speaker McCarthy was removed by a vote from 8 Republicans and every Democrat Fox News anchor Sean Hannity broke the news that there are Republicans who want to draft former President Donald Trump to be the next Speaker and that the former president is considering it.

“I’ve now heard from a number of people. I know for a fact Donald Trump has been contacted about possibly him being an interim Speaker,” the host said before, later in the show, asking Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan what he thought of the idea.

“Is that a reality?” the representative said. “I don’t know. He’d be great, but actually, I want Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States. If he wants to be Speaker, great, but I want him to be president of the United States.”

“I’ll be clear, he would still run for president. He’s still going to be running for president,” the host said.

“That’s where we need him, is at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but if he wants to be Speaker then that’s fine too,” the representative said.

Before Hannity’s segment, and after former Speaker McCarthy was removed, Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her support for former President Trump as the next Speaker.

“The only candidate for Speaker I am currently supporting is President Donald J. Trump. He will end the war in Ukraine. He will secure the border. He will end the politically weaponized government. He will make America energy independent again. He will pass my bill to stop transgender surgeries on kids and keep men out of women’s sports. He will support our military and police. And so much more!” she said on X, formerly Twitter.

“He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America. He received a record number of Republican votes of any Republican Presidential candidate! We can make him Speaker and then elect him President! He will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” she said.

And one Republican Congressman, Texas Rep. Troy Nehls, said he will nominate former President Trump as the next Speaker of the House.

“This week, when the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, my first order of business will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives,” he said. “President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again.”
